Historical Information

previous hit Prince  next hit previous hit Edward  next hit previous hit County  next hit was named in honor of previous hit Edward  next hit Augustus, a son of previous hit Prince  next hit Frederick Louis, a grandson of George II, and a younger brother of George III. The previous hit county  next hit was formed from Amelia previous hit County  next hit in 1753. The previous hit county  next hit seat is Farmville.

The clerk's office depicted in the 1854 drawings is still standing and includes some of the letter presses originally designed for the building. The structure is known as the Worsham clerk's office because it stands in the village of Worsham, named after Branch Worsham, the first clerk of court in previous hit Prince  next hit previous hit Edward  next hit. The previous hit county  next hit seat moved to Farmville in 1872.
